Skanska Renovating Heritage Park Learning Center

04/12/2007

Skanska USA Building Inc., the Triangle’s top general contractor, announced today its sponsorship of Communities In Schools of Wake County.  Maintaining its commitment to social responsibility, Skanska begins work to renovate Heritage Park Community Learning Center, CIS Wake’s oldest facility, in early June.

The renovation work will not only update the interior of the building, but will transform the existing space into a more vibrant, welcoming learning environment.  Work will include reconfiguring the space to better serve the learning needs of more than 60 children who visit the learning center every day.  Work should be completed in mid-August.  For one year starting July 1, the facility will officially be named the Skanska Community Learning Center at Heritage Park.

Separately, Skanska is also hosting the inaugural Skanska Golf Classic to benefit Communities In Schools of Wake County on Monday, June 25 at Prestonwood Country Club.  Registration for the tournament, sponsored by Golden Corral, is now open by contacting Renee Jones at 919-941-7900.

“While we’re obviously active when it comes to helping literally build Triangle communities, it’s important that all of us at Skanska help build our communities on a more personal level,” said Skanska Area Manager Scott MacLeod. “We believe these children need an environment that will assist with their needs and we saw an opportunity to help Communities in Schools of Wake County offer just that.”

“We are thrilled that Skanska has joined us as a significant partner”, said CIS Wake President Susan B. Hansell. “Together we can improve the learning environment for the children of Heritage Park, our flagship learning center.”
