    Welcome!

Communities In Schools of Wake County and Community In Schools of Durham are banding together to turn our students into stars. You can join us.

In the time it takes to have lunch, you can help change a young person’s future for the better. It only takes a minute to share a hug and let a student know you care. It only takes 15 minutes to read a book or have a conversation asking about their day.

  • Giver

"Happiness doesn't result from what we get, but from what we give."

    - Dr. Benjamin Carson

Givers purchase tickets to all Band Together events. We are inviting you to purchase individual or group tickets for your office or organization. Or you can make a direct donation to support our Give Back to the Future Campaign.

  • Partner

Partners bridge the gap between students, communities, and corporations that want to find meaningful ways to give back to the future. Our Partners include: businesses, foundations, government agencies, faith-based organizations, and civic groups that share our mission to help students achieve. Our Partners provide funding, sponsorships, facilities, equipment, consulting, advocacy, and more to help elevate the CIS Triangle mission and advance the initiatives set forth to help students achieve their potential.

  • Volunteer

"People might not get all they work for in this world, but they will work for all they get."

    - Frederick Douglas

Volunteers donate their time, energy, and enthusiasm and help support Triangle students and staff as needed. Our Volunteer pool is comprised of civic groups, certified instructors, retired teachers, and caring individuals who want to help us achieve our goals.

  • Mentor

    • "Don't let anyone rob you of your creativity or curiosity. Never be limited by other people's limited imagination."

Mentors complete specialized training and screening to establish mutually beneficial matches with student participants. Mentors offer students a one-on-one relationship with a caring adult to help build additional support systems; resulting in academic, extracurricular, and personal student success.

It only takes 30 minutes to solve a homework problem and encourage a student to do their best. It only takes 60 minutes to demonstrate the power of an hour and positively impact a student’s life forever. There are numerous ways to give of your time, your talent, and your treasure.

Communities In Schools of Wake County and Communities In Schools of Durham are teaming up with Band Together, an organization that has donated over $3 M to non-profits in the Triangle since 2001 by “using live music as a platform for social change.”
