Programs and Services

All children face challenges but children living in poverty often face challenges of greater proportion and with greater frequency. For the school year 2006-2007, Communities In Schools of Wake County has registered approximately 875 students from Wake County Public Schools into its program: more than 600 in 13 school sites and 275 young people in five after-school learning centers in public housing communities.

School Sites and After-School Learning Centers

In partnership with parents, teachers, corporate supporters, nonprofit and civic partners, universities, and private citizens, Communities In Schools of Wake County students are encouraged to learn, dream of what they might have achieve in the future, and to stay in school in order to see those dreams become reality.

Communities In Schools of Wake County works with volunteers at 13 Wake County Public Schools and 5 after-school learning centers in Raleigh public housing communities to provide homework tutorial assistance, supplemental academic programs, and other community resources to students who might not otherwise have them.
